ZRST reinforces its commitment to building a culture of Zero Harm at the Official Launch of the Zambia Country Profile on Occupational Safety and Health 2025 and the Vision Zero Campaign in the Transport Sector.
The Zambia Road Safety Trust (ZRST) was honoured to participate in the Official Launch of the Zambia Country Profile on Occupational Safety and Health 2025 and Vision Zero Campaign in the Transport Sector, held on Tuesday, 28th October 2025 at the Ciela International Convention Centre in Chongwe.
The event was graced by the Hon. Brenda Tambatamba, Minister of Labour and Social Security, as Guest of Honour, and the Hon. Frank Tayali, Minister of Transport and Logistics.
Both Ministers underscored Government’s commitment to making safety and health a way of life, beginning from our homes, extending to our workplaces, and reflected on our roads.
Represented by its Founder and Managing Director, Mr. Daniel Mwamba, ZRST was among the institutions invited to present and showcase their contributions towards achieving Vision Zero in Zambia.
Delivering a presentation titled “Vision Zero in Zambia’s Transport Sector,” ZRST demonstrated how its long-standing work has already been advancing the principles of prevention, collaboration, and systemic safety that define the Vision Zero framework.
Over the years, ZRST has implemented numerous interventions aligned with the Vision Zero philosophy, including:
1. School-area safety improvements across more than 40 schools in Lusaka and the Copperbelt.
2. Nationwide zebra-crossing rehabilitation and low-speed corridor enhancements.
3. Motorbike and driver safety training programmes, improving helmet compliance and defensive driving practices.
4. Data-driven advocacy and policy engagement in collaboration with the Road Transport and Safety Agency, Lusaka city council, Workers Compensation Fund Control Board, the International Labour Organisation, and other partners.
ZRST extends sincere appreciation to the Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security for the recognition and opportunity to showcase our work and reaffirm our commitment to the Vision Zero movement.
As Zambia embraces the Vision Zero framework, ZRST stands ready to collaborate with Government, the private sector, and civil society to build a culture of Zero Harm—where every journey ends safely and every life counts
