Course overview
A 2-day course on the science and practice of speed management, covering the speed-risk relationship, spot speed surveys, speed limit review methodology, enforcement strategies, and engineering treatments. Participants develop practical skills using real survey data and Zambia case studies.
What the course covers
- Explain why speed is a dominant injury-severity factor
- Design and run a basic spot speed survey
- Recommend speed limits aligned to land use and road function
- Integrate engineering, enforcement and communication measures
Topics you will study
- Speed, Risk, and the Science of Speed Management
- Spot Speed Surveys: Design and Data Collection
- Speed Data Analysis: V85 and Percentile Distribution
- Speed Limit Review Methodology
- Speed Management Packages: Engineering, Enforcement, Education
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Assessment
Practical learning
