Policies and Safeguards

How ZRST protects people, resources, partner confidence and public trust.

ZRST’s road safety work depends on responsible governance, safeguarding, financial control, ethical conduct and clear accountability. Policies and safeguards help guide how ZRST works with children, schools, communities, public institutions, partners, data and funds.

Why policies matter

Road safety delivery requires clear rules and responsible conduct.

ZRST works with children and schools, communities, public institutions, companies, donors, road users, field teams and technical partners. This work can involve roadside activity, school engagement, photos, personal information, partner funds, transport, equipment and public trust.

Policies help turn institutional values into practical behaviour: safer engagement with children and communities, responsible use of funds, proper approvals, careful communication and honest reporting.

Core safeguard areas

The main areas ZRST manages through policy and procedure.

Child protection and safeguarding

ZRST’s work with schools and children requires safe conduct, appropriate permissions, responsible photography, respectful engagement and proper reporting of concerns.

Financial accountability

Controls around budgets, approvals, payments, records, audit and reporting help protect donor and partner funds.

Procurement and asset use

Procurement, printing, transport, equipment and organisational property must be approved, recorded and used for authorised purposes.

Staff and volunteer conduct

Staff, volunteers and representatives are expected to follow instructions, respect communities, protect ZRST’s reputation and maintain professional conduct.

Anti-fraud and anti-corruption

ZRST does not tolerate fraud, theft, bribery, misappropriation, false reporting or misuse of project resources.

Data, privacy and communication

ZRST handles contact details, photos, field records, school information and partner information responsibly.

Health, safety and fieldwork

Road safety work may involve field visits, roadside activity, school zones, public events and traffic environments. Fieldwork requires planning and care.

Partner accountability

When ZRST works with donors, corporates, public institutions and technical partners, roles, approvals, records and reporting responsibilities should be clear.

Due diligence

How partners can request documents.

Partners reviewing ZRST for funding, procurement or technical collaboration may request supporting governance, safeguarding, finance and project documents.

Requests should state the organisation, the purpose of review and the documents required. ZRST may provide relevant documents subject to internal approval, confidentiality and the purpose of the review.

Responsible reporting statement

ZRST does not treat policies as decoration. Policies must support practical behaviour: responsible use of funds, careful work with children and schools, respectful engagement with communities, proper approvals, honest reporting and accurate partner credit.

Review ZRST’s governance and safeguards

Access public governance records or request due-diligence documents.

ZRST shares relevant governance, safeguarding, finance and project documents with serious partners reviewing the organisation for funding, procurement, technical collaboration or project delivery.
