3rd AfroSAFE Conference | Lusaka, Zambia | 8–12 June 2026
The Zambia Road Safety Trust (ZRST) is pleased to announce that Zambia will host the 3rd AfroSAFE Academy Conference, one of Africa’s leading platforms for advancing road safety research, policy, and practice.The conference is organized in close co-operation with the School of Engineering, University of Zambia (UNZA), and Zambia Road Safety Trust.

This landmark international conference will bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, development partners, and road safety stakeholders from across Africa and beyond, united by a shared commitment to reducing road traffic injuries and fatalities on the continent.
Conference Theme
Building Sustainable Road Safety Systems for Africa:
From Data to Implementation and Ownership
Africa continues to experience a disproportionately high burden of road traffic deaths, particularly among pedestrians, cyclists, children, young people, and persons with disabilities. The 3rd AfroSAFE Academy Conference will focus on translating evidence into action by strengthening data-driven, inclusive, and sustainable road safety systems led and owned by African institutions.
Call for Abstracts – Now Open
Researchers, practitioners, and policymakers are invited to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations.
Abstract submission deadline: 15 January 2026
Accepted abstracts will offer contributors the opportunity to:
- Present high-quality research and innovative road safety interventions
- Engage with leading African and international experts
- Influence policy, planning, and implementation across Africa

All submissions should demonstrate clear relevance to the African context and contribute to improved understanding of road users’ risks, behaviours, and responses to traffic environments.
