On February 21, 2025, the Zambia Road Safety Trust (ZRST) had the honor of participating in the RTSA Road Show in Chipata during the N’cwala Ceremony period. Alongside Safe Steps: Prudential, we took this opportunity to engage with cyclists, motorbike riders, and motor vehicle drivers, emphasizing the importance of road safety and responsible road use.

The event attracted an impressive turnout, with many road users eager to learn more about how to stay safe. Through interactive sessions, we tested participants’ knowledge of road safety, and it was eye-opening to discover that many lacked a proper understanding of essential road safety practices. This highlighted the need for continuous awareness efforts to instill a culture of responsible road use.
Throughout the day, we had meaningful conversations with attendees who expressed deep appreciation for the knowledge shared. To enhance road safety within the community, we distributed reflector jackets, reflective stickers, and copies of the Highway Code in various local languages, with a special focus on Chinyanja, the widely spoken language in Chipata. The enthusiasm with which these materials were received underscored the community’s eagerness to embrace road safety measures.
A particularly inspiring moment was the presence of a dedicated cyclist who made the long journey from Lusaka to Chipata on an extraordinary bicycle just to attend the event and show support for our cause. Such dedication reinforces the importance of our mission and the impact we are making in promoting safer roads across Zambia.
ZRST remained committed to road safety advocacy during the 2025 N’cwala Ceremony on 22nd February, 2025, which was held under the theme: “Cultural Restoration for National Unity and Peace in Zambia After 60.” Our efforts, in collaboration with RTSA, continued beyond the roadshow, as we distributed additional copies of the Highway Code, road safety flyers, brochures, t-shirts, and caps to reinforce key safety messages.
As part of our broader mission, we also introduced the Road Traffic Victims Fund, an initiative aimed at providing financial support to those affected by road traffic incidents. Through this, we encouraged donations and contributions to assist victims and their families in recovering from the devastating impact of road accidents.
At ZRST, we take great pride in being part of this vital initiative to ensure the safety of all road users. The unwavering support from the public and our partners continues to drive us forward in our mission to Save Lives on Zambia’s Roads. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this cause—together, we are making a real difference and building a safer future for all road users! 🚗💡
