ON THE ROAD TO SAFETY: DISCUSSING INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS WITH THE WORLD BANK FOR ZAMBIA’S ROADS

On Friday, May 3rd, 2024, the Zambia Road Safety Trust (ZRST) had the honour of hosting a pivotal meeting with esteemed representatives from the World Bank. The meeting welcomed key figures such as Mr. Trevor Hall, Mr. Adam Briggs, and Mr. George Malama, alongside our Director, Mr. Daniel Mwamba, and our committed ZRST team. Together, we engaged in discussions focused on strategizing the successful implementation and enforcement of automated camera technologies. These technologies are not only crucial but also transformative in enhancing road safety across our nation.

Automated Camera Speed Enforcement stands as an essential behavioral intervention with immense potential to address the prevalent issue of excessive speed, as identified in the Road Transport and Safety Agency’s (RTSA) report on April 12th, 2024 in the 1st Quarter of 2024. This technology holds the key to significantly reducing road traffic fatalities and serious injuries caused by speeding.
