On August 1st, 2024, the Zambia Road Safety Trust (ZRST) participated in the “Spark the Shift: Accelerating E-Mobility Amid the Load Shedding Crisis” event. This gathering brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Rural Electrification Authority (REA) and the COMESA Director, to discuss strategies for advancing e-mobility in Zambia. Key topics included the implementation of incentives and policies to boost electric vehicle (EV) adoption, such as tax credits, subsidies, and the development of charging infrastructure. The event also emphasized the importance of public awareness campaigns to educate consumers on the benefits of EVs over internal combustion engine vehicles and highlighted the need for collaboration between government, industry, and utilities to create a comprehensive e-mobility framework.
