In a concerted effort to prioritize the safety and security of school going children during their daily commute, the Zambia Road Safety Trust, in collaboration with Prudential and Safe Steps Zambia, launched the “Safe Journeys to Schools” project. This initiative focused on the enhancement of safety measures around Chitanda Combined School in Matero.
The project aimed to instil habits related to road safety, emphasizing responsible practices such as careful crossing and understanding pedestrian safety. The goal was to contribute to the overall well-being of the learners during their commutes. In addition, improvements were made to the school’s infrastructure. This included improved sidewalks, thoughtfully positioned bollards, upgraded road signage, and designated zebra crossing points.
The success of the project was amplified through our partnership with Prudential and Safe Steps Zambia. Their commitment to making our roads safer for learners has left a lasting impression on the Chitanda Combined School. The Zambia Road Safety Trust continues to be devoted to making sure that learners can go to school without putting their safety at risk along the way.
