Driving Change Through Road Safety Education and Recognition

On Friday, 13th December 2024, YANGO, in partnership with the Zambia Road Safety Trust (ZRST), hosted an impactful event at Sandy’s Creation in Lusaka. This initiative, held from 9 AM to 3 PM, focused on enhancing road safety and reducing accidents among YANGO courier drivers.

The event celebrated drivers who prioritize safety on the roads, recognizing their efforts with courier awards and incentives. By honoring these exemplary drivers, YANGO and ZRST aim to inspire a culture of responsibility, excellence, and care on Zambia’s roads.

The day was packed with insightful talks and interactive sessions, highlighting the importance of responsible driving practices. Distinguished guests shared their expertise, including Dennis Aremo (Country Manager, YANGO Zambia), Chilekwa O’Brian (representing ZRST Chairperson Daniel Mwamba), Gift Musenga (Programs Manager, VisionSpring), Fortunate Mphande (Zambia Traffic Desk), and Khumalo Hope (Zambia School of Driving). Their contributions added tremendous value to the initiative, reinforcing the shared mission of promoting road safety.

A notable highlight was VisionSpring’s “See to Be Safe” initiative, which provided free eye check-ups and corrective lenses to all attending drivers. This thoughtful gesture emphasized the importance of clear vision in reducing road accidents, saving lives, and improving livelihoods.

Through this collaborative effort, YANGO Zambia and ZRST have taken a significant step towards creating safer roads for all Zambians. By educating and recognizing drivers, they continue to drive positive change, one road at a time. Together, we can make a difference!
