POLICE deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says a total number of 7,704 road traffic accidents have been recorded in the first quarter of 2016.
In a statement, Mr. Hamoonga stated that 356 were fatal road traffic accidents, 776 were serious road traffic accidents and 1,308 were slight road traffic accidents.

“…5,264 were damage only road traffic accidents. A total of 408 persons were killed in the first quarter of 2016, as compared to 465 in the first quarter of 2015, representing a 12 percent reduction,” Mr. Hamoonga stated.
He stated that 1,350 persons were seriously injured in the first quarter of 2016 as compared to 1,558 persons in the first quarter of 2015 representing a 13 percent reduction.
“1,759 persons were slightly injured in the first quarter of 2016 as compared to 2,084 in the first quarter of 2015, representing a 15 percent reduction,” stated Mr. Hamoonga.
